Postpartum Emotions

Postpartum Emotions

Emotional changes after delivery are common and experienced by all women after their baby is born. Most moms feel sad at times and these feelings can last a couple of weeks. However, if those sad feelings continue, or you have feelings of being overwhelmed, this may be an emotional change signaling depression or a mood disturbance. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please call your doctor:

  • Insomnia
  • Lack of appetite or overeating
  • Withdrawing from family and friends
  • Confusion
  • Feeling tired
  • Unable to care for yourself
  • Feeling upset or fearful
