Overview

While this long-term, acute-care hospital is on the 4th floor (east wing) inside Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, it is legally, organizationally and functionally separate. Baptist Memorial Restorative Care Hospital treats patients who require continued acute care over an extended length of time.

A patient may be admitted to Baptist Memorial Restorative Care Hospital under several indications:

  • Patient having difficulty weaning from a ventilator.
  • Stroke or cardiovascular patient requiring prolonged acute care.
  • Patient with multi-system processes and multiple comorbidities exacerbating an acute condition.
  • Patient with a complicated wound or ostomy (surgically created opening).
  • Patient needs step-down or intermediate care after discharge from an intensive care unit (ICU).
  • Patient requires long-term antibiotics for an acute condition.

Our goal is to transition the patient to the lowest appropriate level of care possible.

It's Safe to Resume Your Health Care Services at Baptist

If you have delayed an elective medical or surgical procedure because of COVID-19, it’s time to speak with your physician about resuming your normal care and procedures at Baptist medical center.

Working with our partner physicians, we have designed and implemented the safest possible health care environments in preparation for your return to normal use of elective medical and surgical care at all our Baptist hospitals and Baptist Medical Group clinics.

We're taking special care to provide you with special care. Visit our Baptist Is Safe page to learn more about what our medical clinic is doing to ensure the safety of all our patients, their families and our employees.

Visitation should be limited as much as possible for the safety of our patients, physicians, and our staff. Baptist is committed to showing care and compassion for our patients and their need for visitors during this time. As we move deeper into the COVID-19 pandemic in our region we will allow visitors in accordance with the following guidelines, which are subject to change at each Baptist facility:

  • Visitors must be 17 years of age or older.
  • Patients at end-of-life may have a limited number of visitors who must remain in the room for the duration of the visit.
  • Patients may have a visitor who is the caregiver at home and needs to be trained before discharge.

Please note that all visitors must screen negative based on travel, have no symptoms of respiratory infection (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath) and have had no contact with known or suspected COVID-19 patients.

For the protection of patients, family members and medical staff, no visitors will be allowed in rooms of patients with pending or positive COVID-19 tests.

Please respect the nurses' instructions as they work to do what is best for both you and your loved one. Under certain circumstances, each patient’s physician or nurse may limit the amount of time and/or number of visitors a patient may have.
