What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?

I place listening to a patient as my top priority as I feel that being heard should be a realistic expectation for anyone I see. I wish I could say that everyone gets immediate answers and solutions, but unfortunately that is not always the case. However, I think that it is fair to expect a provider that is competent, attentive, and willing to work alongside the patient to come up with a plan to help.

What is the most important factor in a doctor patient relationship and why?

I think trust is crucial. Hopefully the patient trusts that I am giving recommendations that I feel are in his or her best interest. Trust can be challenging to both obtain and maintain, and listening and transparency are both really important tools in this regard. I would much rather say "I don't know, but we are going to find out" than make up something inaccurate.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy when you're not working?

I enjoy travel, cooking, coaching, and watching sporting events.

What about your line of work do you find the most rewarding and why?

Rheumatology is a specialty that gets to form long-term relationships, and that was a large reason I chose it.
