Meet The Doctor

What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?

You can expect to find a physician that views the practice of medicine as a ministry of healing. A kind, courteous, and competent practitioner that will address your problems in a forthright, sensitive and compassionate manner.

What is the most important factor in a doctor patient relationship and why?

Trust. Without it, the patient will never be able to achieve the level of comfort necessary to fully realize the benefits of the doctor-patient relationship.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy when you're not working?

The performing arts consume a large portion of our family's time and give us all great joy. I have worked with Opera Memphis for over 30 years as a professional consultant and board member. My wife is on the board of the Germantown Performing Arts Center and the Tennessee Arts Council, while my daughter is the Executive Program Director for the Community Musical School of Boston. My son is also a regular in the Opera Memphis Chorus. I enjoy listening to vinyl, attending live performances of all genres of arts entertainment and playing in the Memphis Wind Symphony and other small bands around town. With the time that is left, I enjoy exercising, reading (primarily history), travel and sports.

What about your line of work do you find the most rewarding and why?

At risk of sounding hokey, I really enjoy trying to improve people's lives. Whether treating a simple or complex patient problem, working with colleagues to achieve a positive clinical outcome, or teaching residents and the next generation of health care professionals, as long as someone’s life is made better, I am satisfied.
